Marina Ibiza has received a Blue Wake™ Award at the Monaco Yacht Show for its Posidonia seagrass restoration project in Talamanca Bay, carried out together with Asociación Vellmarí

The work to bring Ibiza’s Posidonia meadows back to life has reached Monaco. In September 2026, at the Monaco Yacht Show, one of the yachting industry’s leading international events, Marina Ibiza received a Blue Wake™ Award in the Yacht Services category for its project to restore the Posidonia meadows of Talamanca Bay.

The Blue Wake™ Awards, organised by the Monaco Yacht Show with the support of the Water Revolution Foundation, recognise companies that are driving a more sustainable future for yachting. Seeing a marine restoration project win this award shows that the industry can be part of the solution.

A shared project

The project is being carried out together with Asociación Vellmarí, which has spent more than two decades working on research, environmental education and the conservation of the Mediterranean. In Talamanca, our goal is to help Posidonia grow again where it had been lost.

Why Posidonia matters

Posidonia oceanica is a marine plant found only in the Mediterranean, and the foundation of its marine life:

  • It captures carbon and oxygenates the water.
  • It provides shelter and food for hundreds of species.
  • It protects our beaches from erosion.

Every plant that grows back in Talamanca is a step towards a more vibrant Mediterranean.

Thank you, Marina Ibiza, for believing in this project and for showing that yachting and marine conservation can go hand in hand.
